Project Bread

What is Project Bread?
Project Bread, funded by Midland Area Agency on Aging, is a nutritional program providing a well-balanced noon meal for senior citizens (men and women over the age of 60).  This Project is the idea of Basic Right of the Elderly to an Adequate Diet.

What does Project Bread do?
Primarily, Project Bread helps senior citizens maintain their physical health by providing essential nutrients at the noon meal.  In addition, nutritional information is provided through speakers and pamphlets.

Those unable to attend at the meal-site may be eligible for the Home Delivered Meal Program.

Secondarily, Project Bread contributes to the general well-being of senior citizens through social contracts, stimulation companionship, and the benefits of friendship, conversation, social activities and services.

What is the Cost of a Meal?
A donation or contribution is asked to help defray the cost of the meal.  In most of our sites the suggested donation is $2 per meal or the amount a senior can personally afford.  No senior citizen will be turned away because of the lack of the ability to contribute, however, the serives we provide greatly depend on the donations that are received.
