BCMW Receives Monsanto Grant

BCMW in Centralia was chosen by Don Guymon and $2,500 dollars was given to BCMW. Guymon selected BCMW because he likes the assistance they provide to families in need. Sue Castleman of BCMW accepted the donation. She says, "with this fund we are going to use it for our community garden. Last year we had a problem with deer and other animals eating our plants and this year I'm hoping we can do something towards putting a fence up."
Marion County was one county out of 1,204 counties in 38 states for local farmers to sign up for America's Farmers Grow Communities program. Monsanto is distributing a little over 3 million dollars in donation money through the program.
Other winners of the $2,500 dollar grants included Mary Lou Krutsinger of Xenia who designated the Clay County Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry. Jim Rakers of Aviston donated to the Aviston Elementary School. Carol Austin of Brownstown selected the St. Elmo FFA. Jamie Kiefer of Belle Rive donated to the Jefferson County Farm Bureau Foundation. Dennis Witte of Nashville gave to Trinity St. John Lutheran School in Nashville. Fred Blessing of Fairfield donated his grant to the Wayne County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom program.
